007 nails: opi skyfall collection

I'm not a big nail girl, I have rather unsightly streaky nails that get even drier after nail polish - before my holiday to Italy I've laid off nail polish for more than a year. So damn OPI for its gorgeous 12-piece Skyfall collection. (I'll let slip the fact that it is named after one of the most iconic male sex symbols in film history... after all a green ogre has also had his own namesake line). I can't say I'm a big fan of the reds, but the dark shades have gotten me bad, especially On Her Majesty's Secret Service. See the swatches here.

The star of the show is, of course, the The Man with the Golden Gun. In a gorgeous gold bottle is a gold leaf topcoat, and we're talking real 18-carat gold. I don't like the effect itself, but at least the bottle would look rather pretty sitting on any shelf.

the politics of the front row

To say that the front row means a great deal in fashion shows is like pointing out that one should never wear leggings as pants - it's obvious. There are some seriously analytical articles out there about front row politics, like this fascinating one about the rise of Chinese front rowers. Which is why I laughed when I saw this:

What a wonderful spoof at The Rodnik Band's show! I've never heard of the label before, and their clothes are ridiculous but they look like a whole lot of cheeky fun. After all, who wouldn't want the Queen at a fashion show?

blake lively for gucci premiere

I know it's been a while, but real life has been busy. And big things are coming up - not least my 9-day trip to Italy next week!

Anyway, just saw these, and my oh my, is Blake Lively gorgeous! Look at her in these behind-the-scenes pictures on her shoot for Gucci's new fragrance, Premiere. I'm on a mission to find out what lipstick she's using. I also need to learn how to use rollers.
